Hubbell TayMac MM420C Extra Duty In-Use Weatherproof Cover

Specify the Extra Duty MM420C, not the standard-duty MM410C — only the former meets the code requirement for an outdoor receptacle in use.

A small part with a real code consequence. NEC 406.9(B)(1) requires an outdoor receptacle to stay weatherproof while a cord is plugged into it, and only Extra Duty covers meet that requirement. The visually similar MM410C is standard duty and does not, which is why it fails inspections that this one passes. If you are installing an outdoor outlet to charge from or to feed a jobsite, specify this part number.
